Lawrie Re-elected

Lawrie Quinn has been re-elected by the people of Scarborough & Whitby to serve as their Member of Parliament.
As nationally, the turnout was down, but still Lawrie polled 22,426 votes, 47.2% of the total, leading John Sykes by a majority of 3585. This represents an excellent result for Lawrie in the face of a lower turnout and a party already in government. Holding this seat, taken for the first time ever for Labour at the 1997 election, reflects the hard work Lawrie has put in on behalf of the people of Scarborough & Whitby since then.
