About Café Scientifique

Café Scientifique is a monthly conversation about current issues in science and technology in a relaxed café setting.

Anyone, from sixth formers to senior citizens, can engage with an expert about the latest ideas and trends - you don't need a science background! After about half-an hour's introduction there's a break to replenish your drinks, the floor is then open to conversation - not just about the technical details but the impact upon our communities and world. The speakers are leaders in their field, many from the Northeast.

Stockton Café Scientifique is one of a growing network of Cafés Scientifique in the UK and Europe. It was started in 2004 by the then Stockton-based John Snow College of Durham University; and is now run by a voluntary committee drawn from the audience, with the support of the ARC.

The evening starts at 7:45 p.m. in 'Arc', Dovecot Street, Stockton. Entrance is free although participants are invited to make a donation of £5.00 towards the expenses of the evening. " 'Arc' has a wide range of soft and alcoholic drinks. There is plenty of parking nearby, only two minutes walk; and buses and trains are not far away. If you are unable to attend ARC in person but would like to donate, you can do so online; please see the donate page.
